slo no mo (is the new pink).

I really shouldn't have to tell any of you how stoked I was to see the movie Turbo.

no but really, it was definitely registering on my excite-o-meter! I live, eat, sleep and breathe the Indy 500 (and all of its glory) during the month of May, so I couldn't wait to see how Hollywood would depict my beloved "greatest spectacle in racing."

so I called my momma up and asked her if she wanted a hot movie date (me). we grabbed a bag of popcorn and headed to the movies.

well I'll be darned....Hollywood got it right. no joke. from how beautiful IMS looked to how the yellow shirts act, Hollywood nailed it. I couldn't believe how many little details they added (did anyone else see the DW logo on the back of Guy's car?)! the skyline of Indianapolis looked gorgeous and all of the images of the Pagoda revved my engine and got me pumped up for next year's race!

would I recommend this movie? heck yes!! so grab your young race fans and head to your closest theater to find out why "tuck and roll" is my new life motto!

mani monday on Tuesday (is the new pink).

so what that I'm a day late for mani monday.....it's the thought that counts, right?? right??

regardless. I totes did a fun mani yesterday. for some reason, I've been wanting to try white polish. I've stayed away from it for awhile, but I decided to put my big girl panties on and try it out. of course, Kelby can't do anything plain. so I busted out my favorite new orleans inspired polish, OPI's French Quarter for Your Thoughts, and got a little crazy. (to be honest, I was catching up on my pretty little liars via netflix and aria was my inspiration. gosh, I just love her.)

the finished look revealed!!! (ta da!!)

seriously, go invest in French Quarter For Your Thoughts. it pretty much is the perfect shade of gray (one of 50, I'm sure). I wear it all the time in the fall but it totes works for spring too.

and no mani would be complete without my trusty top/base coat. I go through these like candy. thank you Sally Hansen for making this so stinking awesome.

distressed denim (is the new pink).

I love distressed denim. almost to a level that is unhealthy. yup. that about sums it up. unhealthy obsession with jeans.

ok onward to the point of this pointless ramble. yes, I do have actually have a point.

while I love distressed denim, I'm not a fan of how casual it looks. I'm beginning to understand that my style isn't one that bodes well with super casual looks. so I love to pair my distressed-ness up with something a wee bit dressy. hence my Bellatrix top and coral BP (Nordstrom) cardi.

the jeans are the AG piper crop. not the best fitting jean in the world but I love the color of them.

no outfit is complete without a stacked wrist. (apparently CoCo Chanel and I wouldn't get along with her whole philosophy of "take off one thing before you leave the house." blah blah blah I say. my motto is more like "add 20 before you leave the house.)

gotta love these Steve Maddens. I'm debating on the camel color too. totes think I could transition these into fall. (why yes summer just began and I'm thinking about my fall wardy.)

the complete look. love.love.love.

freedom (is the new pink). on my booty.

hello. for anyone who knows me but at all, they know how much I love America/Merica/I'm ok USA!

no but seriously. I love all things red, white and blue related. including these amaze-ball shorts I stumbled across at target last year. (no but really, I tripped while shopping at the beloved target right in front of these shorts. it was like it was meant to be.)

so I totes busted out these flag shorts yesterday. yum. love them.

who knew patriotism could be so dang fashionable??

disney world. 2013. princess half marathon RACE.

Sunday, February 24th. RACE DAY! So freaking excited!!

What Mom and I were not excited about....waking up at 2:00am to get ready to go. The half-marathon started at 5:30am (to get all the runners through before the parks opened). We decided to try and catch the shuttle from Port Orleans to the start line as soon as it started....at 3:00am. Yikes. It was definitely an early morning.

But don't worry...we love selfies even at 3:00am!

My race day outfit! I didn't dress up like any princess specifically (but TONS of people did). Instead, I made my own tutu skirt! I loved it!

All dressed up and ready to RUN!

Loved the photo opps at the start line!! Of course, Disney puts on one heck of a show. The start line had an awesome DJ and they even had some Princesses out for photo opps.

This woman. The best support system I could ever have at a race. Lucky for me, we've done this about 6 times before! She always knows where to find me and where to get the best picture! Love my mama.

Since Cinderella never made an appearance at the race, Rapunzel is my next favorite Princess.

Still can't believe I was in Corral A. Loved starting that close! I was able to get my pace within the first half mile (which is unheard of in a race with 26,000 people) and managed to set my pace with about 5 other women.

Even though I wore my Garmin, I had no idea how close I would be to PR-ing this race. I was on track to run this half marathon in under 2 hours. Unfortunately, I decided to stop at every character Disney put out along the course.

First up...Lightning McQueen (around mile 3.5)! Lightning was outside the Richard Petty Driving Experience outside of the Magic Kingdom.

Saw Mom! She was right outside Cinderella's castle in the Magic Kingdom! My most favorite moment of the race....running into the Magic Kingdom! It was still dark when I got there (around mile 6) and all of Main Street USA was lit up! The streets were lined with a ton of people who were cheering for everyone! Cinderella's Castle was lit up with pink lights...I totally had chills running up to the Castle! The course took us through Tomorrowland and then through New Fantasyland before we got to run through the Castle! LOVED IT!!

On the way to the Magic Kingdom!

The villians were my favorite characters! They had music blaring and were hilarious when you went up to them.

Pink Castle!!

Met Jessie in the Magic Kingdom!

Ahhhhhhh! Princess Aurora!!!!!!!!!!!

Mary Poppins and the gang! They were on the very boring route between the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian Resort. Seriously, that stretch was sups boring.

Yes, I know I'm saluting with the wrong hand. Don't yell at me Dad.

However, I have a bone to pick with Sarge. He lied and told us that this was the last hill (around mile 10). However, homeboy is a liar.

Oh my gosh! I'm finished!!! It was a really fun race and I loved every single second of it! It was the strongest finish I had every had. I sprinted the finish line--which I never do! In fact, Mom didn't even see me finish (probably because she wasn't expecting me to sprint it!)

Had to get my picture with Snow White after the race!!!

Mom is the best! She not only got me a Mickey Rose at the finish....but spoiled me with a much deserved and needed glass of Princess Champagne!

Best half-marathon to date!! Nailed it!

disney world. 2013. magic kingdom (round one).

After the Expo, Mom and I dropped our goods off at the hotel and then hopped the bus to the Magic Kingdom!! MY FAVORITE!!

Seriously, something about this place just makes me happy! I didn't know how it would be without having any kids with us. Mom and I don't typically ride rides. But we had a BLAST just walking around and going in and out of all the shops. We even managed to have really aewsome seats on Main Street USA for the afternoon parade. It was a perfect day just walking around this magical kingdom. Ahhhh.

(insert fairy princess music here)

Of course, we had to hit up the Christmas shop in Liberty Square. If there is anything the Hicks girls love more than the Mouse...it's Christmas!!

New Fantasyland was so awesome! I wish we would have taken the time to eat in the Be Our Guest restaurant....but the line was OUTRAGEOUS! I'm seriously in awe of this empire that Walt Disney created. Mom and I seriously had the best time! Who says you need kids to go to Disney World??
